Cross-Curricular ICT
Below are a few examples of how Year 2 have included the use of iPads in their English sessions, where the children recreated their own stories, based on the book, 'Michael Recycle'. They used the App 'Puppet Pals Hd' which was demonstrated by 'Mr P' in his training session at our school in September.
The children had backgrounds printed out or found their own on the App, and then went about taking photos of their Superhero and 'cutting them out' to become the digital superstars of their movie.
This app is a brilliant way of getting children to interact and to re-tell their own or even favourite stories, and Year 4 will hopefully be using it soon to recreate their Myths and Legends work.
But there's more...
Another thing to note was how Mrs Jones was able to upload their videos quickly and easily onto another favourite app at the moment, SeeSaw. This app lets you store content from the iPad quickly and efficiently and keeps it as a bank of evidence, either for assessment purposes or to keep as a record of attainment. There are a multitude of applications that this app could develop throughout the school and could even provide parents with an insight into children's progress and attainment. The App itself is easy to navigate, and content accessible via personalised (automatically created) QR codes.
Is this the future of communication with parents?
